Boroughbridge Primary School Year Sixes visit St Andrew’s

It was great to welcome Mrs Sykes and Year 6 to St Andrew’s today.  They had fantastic questions, were brilliantly well-behaved and were really interested in the art in the church, especially the stained glass windows.  Rev Diane and Mr Aidan Foster showed them around.  Items that got lots of attention were the brass of Sir Andrew de Aldeburghe; the burial place of someone who was twice Lord Mayor of York, dating back to 1675, and the Arts and Crafts style window in the west end of the church.  Year 6 are going back to make their own stained glass windows, and Rev Diane looks forward to seeing them when they are completed.

School visits to any of the churches in our group are always most warmly welcomed.  And thanks to Bob Walker for putting the heating on for us today!
