After a difficult two years in this parish, Rev Diane has taken the decision to retire. Her last Sunday service in the parish will be Sunday 17 June at 10.45 am at St James Boroughbridge – all five congregations are invited to come together for this occasion. She remains in post as Vicar of the parish until Saturday 30 June and will take the midweek communions at St James church on 13, 20 and 27 June, and be available as usual for personal counsel or pastoral visits, until the end of the month. She is grateful to those who have given support over the last two years, especially Revd Marjorie and other clergy colleagues in the area. She and Keith look forward to moving to Thirsk sometime during July, and to finding out what God has in store for this later, more reflective, stage of life.
From 1st July, the parish will be in the hands of the churchwardens of each church, who can be consulted about future service arrangements, funerals, baptism and weddings, and indeed, on all aspects of church life! They, together with the UPCC, are the responsible people during the vacancy, which will last some months.
The Parish Office in Hall Square will remain open, and Caroline, the parish administrator, will be there on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. For the time being, she will continue to produce the weekly or fortnightly news sheet.
