Minskip Church to Re-Open

We are delighted to announce, after the most harrowing of years, that St John’s Minskip is opening up for worship again. Because the church is so small, it was deemed dangerous to hold services inside during the pandemic, although we did stage a couple of very successful services outside. Now, providing all Covid restrictions are lifted, our first service will be taking place on Sunday June 27 at 4.00pm. It will be a Family Service and everyone is welcome. There is no doubt it will be a joyous and memorable occasion.

Photography Competition

Inspired by the talent displayed on the  village WhatsApp group, St Mary’s Church in Lower Dunsforth have decided to hold a competition leading to a “Country Life calendar 2022” .  The photos  must have a country theme to illustrate our beautiful local shared countryside.

We are very pleased that Derry Brabbs has agreed to judge the entries. He has also agreed to give us an illustrated talk on his more recent photographic adventures sometime in early autumn. All funds are in aid of St Mary’s Church.

Harrogate based photographer Derry Brabbs is renowned for his highly successful collaborations with the Yorkshire vet James Herriot and doyen of the Lakeland Fells, Alfred Wainwright, to mention just a few of his many achievements.

The competition is open to amateur photographers within the United Parish, closing date 31st August 2021.

Entries cost £5.00 per TWO photos (no limit on entries but only one winning photo will be awarded per photographer). Terms and conditions are available on request

More information about this competition will be in the June issue of The Parish Link.

The Dunsforth Draw

We are so grateful to all of you who have supported the Dunsforth Draw in 2020. £801 has been handed out in prize money and £1,183 has been raised for the St. Mary’s Church Restoration and Development Fund.

We do hope that you will support us in 2021! The price of a ticket is still just £2 a month (£24 per year). Last year the top prize was £42, and the more people who join in, the bigger the prizes will be this year!

Please let Penny know (01423 322901) if you would like to join or renew in 2021.  You can leave cheques/cash in her postbox at Matteson Farm (if you would rather pay by BACs, please contact Mike Wildblood on 07836 376965 for bank details).

We would be grateful to hear from you as soon as possible. Thank you and good luck!
