Jubilee Weekend: Fri 3 – Sun 5 June
Flower Festival in Church and photo exhibition of previous Minskip Jubilee celebrations. The church will be open 2 – 4 pm on Friday & Saturday and 10am – 4pm on Sunday.
A Family Day on Sunday 5th June with various activities centred around the church and village hall, and a Bring and Share Tea from 2–6pm.
There will be a Plant Sale on Sat 18 June, 10– 12noon
Thursday 16 June, 2pm at St James’ Church. John Helliwell will give a talk on ‘Life Saving: Body and Soul’. Everyone welcome. Refreshments. 01423 325405 or 323390.
Thursday, June 2nd to Sunday, June 5th, in St Mary’s Church: A flower display, with cards expressing memories or thoughts about HM The Queen.
During the Bank Holiday weekend of June 2nd to June 5th the church will be open and will host flower displays. You are invited to display a small vase (could be a Jam Jar) of flowers, with a card expressing a memory or thought about the Queen and what her long reign has meant to you. (Or just a card if you don’t fancy doing flowers!!) Children could draw a picture of the queen or something Royal.
(The card: just a plain piece of card or paper to be displayed in front of the flowers).
A Special Messy Church
Come and get ready for the Jubilee, making bunting, crowns, paper chains, a community patchwork banner for the Church, Union Jack windmills and more!
Bring your own picnic, enjoy the sun (the weather forecast looks good…) and enter our children’s hamper draw! (Kindly donated by Morrisons)
Cakes and cold drinks provided. All welcome! Please accompany any children.
Messy Church is free to attend. A donation on the day will help us to keep running Messy Church.
What is Messy Church?
Messy Church is a kind of Church experience that focuses on creativity, celebration and hospitality! Anyone is welcome to attend. Most of the activities are aimed at children and young people 0-13 but we always make sure there is something for older young people and adults too. Creativity is for everyone!
What happens at Messy Church?
All kinds of things!
We start with lots of craft activities connected with the theme. These might involve making, thinking, decorating, exploring or experimenting by painting, sticking, pouring, writing, colouring, eating and more! You will always have something to take home with you! Parents can join in with the activities and enjoy a cup of tea 😊After the messy time, we gather together for a story connected to our theme, a song and a prayer. We often finish with a party tea, so you don’t even have to cook tea that night!
Do I have to book?
No – just turn up! We’d love to see you. If you enjoy yourselves – tell your friends!
What does it cost?
Messy Church is free to attend! There is a pot for donations for people to contribute what they are able, so we can continue to resource Messy Church and make it free for those who might otherwise struggle to attend.
What if one of us has special needs?
We aim to be as inclusive as possible and actively welcome neurodiverse people and any with physical or learning disabilities. We have a ramp and accessible toilet. We aim to be a nut free Church and label food so you know it is safe to eat. If you are concerned we might not be able to meet your needs, get in touch and we’ll talk things through with you.
