*Mothers’ Union World-wide Wave of Prayer – Saturday 8 January 2.00pm at All Saints Kirby Hill. Everyone is invited to join us. John Helliwell has prepared a screen presentation for us which will be very helpful. This short, quiet but inclusive time may be just what we need to help us remember our brothers and sisters throughout the world and at home who are in fellowship with Mothers’ Union and many who are struggling more than we can understand at this difficult time. There will be refreshments afterwards.

*A Rough Guide to Church for the New Year

Is it a long time since you were confirmed? Are you new to Church? Do you ever want to ask questions about what we do in Church or about our faith, but are worried that you are supposed to know it already? Do you feel stuck in a spiritual rut?

Karen is running a series of three sessions this winter:

  • A Rough Guide to Reading the Bible
  • A Rough Guide to Praying
  • A Rough Guide to Holy Communion

These are open for anyone to attend and find out more. There is no expectation of any prior knowledge about anything and no questions are silly questions! You can attend all, two or just one session. Please get in touch with Karen if you are interested so we can plan venues and timings accordingly.

*Quiet Day

Karen is hoping to arrange a Quiet Day in Lent at Holy Rood House in Thirsk as we did two years ago. Holy Rood House is a wonderful peaceful house with lovely gardens, food, a chapel, library and art room. Please express interest or any questions to Karen. If you think you might be interested in attending, please could you let Karen know whether weekdays or weekends are easier for you.

Please note: services/events may be subject to possible change and cancellation due to national or local circumstances. Please see the Services page for the most up to date information.

‘The Longest Night’ Online Service

In 2020, Boroughbridge Churches produced The Longest Night, an online service for people who would like to share in the Christmas story but who did not feel they could cross the threshold and come to any of our services in church. Although not specifically Covid-related, on this longest night of 2021, our video – with its overriding sense of quiet reassurance and hope – appears to be just as relevant.

If, having watched The Longest Night, you feel you would like to speak to someone, please feel free to contact us or send a private message on Boroughbridge Churches Facebook page.

Online Carol Service from Dunsforth

If you are unable to come to services this December, you might like to watch this video of Dunsforth’s carol service last Sunday evening as a way of joining in with us – we hope it will help you to get into festive spirits!

Christmas Cards & 2022 Calendar

You will find no better Christmas present than our 2022 Our Glorious Parish Calendar (which is an A4 spiral booklet calendar opening to A3) for £10.

Furthermore, you will find no better Christmas Cards than our Christmas Cards which come in a pack of 5 (and are 150mm square cards with envelopes) for £4 for 5 cards or £10 for 15 cards.

For more information, or to purchase, please send a message, or contact the Dunsforth Churchwardens.

Advent Study Group

Advent Study Group (Wednesdays in December)

Rev Karen and Rev Ian (our Methodist minister) will be running an Advent study group together on Zoom at 7pm on the 15th December. We will be thinking about God’s light coming into the darkness, as we consider together the themes of encouraging, sharing, reflecting and praying.

Advent Compline (Thursdays in December)

If study groups aren’t your thing, you might instead like to join in a few minutes’ quiet prayer at 8pm on the first four Thursdays in December. Compline is an opportunity to put the worries of the day behind you and find a little peace before a good night’s sleep.

If you would like to join on either Wednesday or Thursday (or both) please contact Rev Karen and she will send you a Zoom link.
