Messy Church – Sunday 20 Nov

Sunday 20th November, 4pm

Advent Adventures!

Activities include making Advent Calendars, painting, Christmas Tree decorating, gingerbread decorating, glow sticks, story, song and this month a HOT meal for everyone….all for FREE.

Bring your friends – see you there!

What is Messy Church?

Messy Church is a kind of Church experience that focuses on creativity, celebration and hospitality! Anyone is welcome to attend. Most of the activities are aimed at children and young people 0-13 but we always make sure there is something for older young people and adults too. Creativity is for everyone!

What happens at Messy Church?

All kinds of things!

We start with lots of craft activities connected with the theme. These might involve making, thinking, decorating, exploring or experimenting by painting, sticking, pouring, writing, colouring, eating and more! You will always have something to take home with you! Parents can join in with the activities. After the messy time, we gather together for a story connected to our theme, a song and a prayer.

Do I have to book?

No – just turn up! We’d love to see you. If you enjoy yourselves – tell your friends!

What does it cost?

Messy Church is free to attend! There is a pot for donations for people to contribute what they are able, so we can continue to resource Messy Church and make it free for those who might otherwise struggle to attend.

What if one of us has special needs?

We aim to be as inclusive as possible and actively welcome neurodiverse people and any with physical or learning disabilities. We have a ramp and accessible toilet. We are a nut free Church and label food so you know it is safe to eat. If you are concerned we might not be able to meet your needs, get in touch and we’ll talk things through with you.

Any Other questions?

Do contact us with any questions through our Facebook page at Boroughbridge Churches or contact us direct via the web link. Or contact Louise on 079760259433.

Remembrance Events

We have several Remembrance events happening this year, with a few changes to established patterns and timings that you need to be aware of. Please can we encourage you to read the notes below carefully as we realise this is an important date for many and we would like to avoid any misunderstanding or disappointment.
Boroughbridge Town Remembrance Service on Sunday 13th November
The changes this year relate to our desire to ensure that as many people are able to attend and pay tribute, whilst keeping everyone safe within the Church element of the service.
To this end, the majority of the service will take place outside in Hall Square beginning shortly after 10.30am and will include hymns and readings prior to the main act of remembrance at 11am. An order of service will be given out in the Square and we would like to invite everyone to be part of this.
Prior to the main act of remembrance in the Square, there will be a much shorter service in Church beginning at 10am with selected invited members of our armed forces, town council representatives, uniformed organisations and British legion members. If it is very important for you to be able to attend this part of the service, please get in touch as we should be able to accommodate you.
Following this short service, further members of our armed forces will congregate outside the Church and formally parade down to Hall Square for the main act of Remembrance which we will all attend.
There are also some other Remembrance events happening to which all are welcome:
  • On Friday 11th November10.40am at Minskip church there will be a short reflective act of worship, including 2 minutes silence, hymns, readings and prayers.
  • On Remembrance Sunday itself there will be a 8.30am Traditional Holy Communion at St Andrew’s Aldborough, to include a reflection for Remembrance and 2 minutes silence.
  • Also on Sunday, there will be a 10am Remembrance Service at St Mary’s Dunsforth culminating in the Act of Remembrance at their memorial at 11am.
We look forward to seeing many of you over the weekend as we remember the fallen with thanksgiving for their sacrifice, and pray for peace in the world.

Death of HM Queen Elizabeth II

Our Churches stand with our nation in mourning the death of our most gracious monarch Queen Elizabeth, praying for our new King and his family.

May her majesty rest in peace and rise in glory, and light perpetual shine upon her.

This Sunday, 18 September, there will be just one Sunday service. This will be a Civic Service of Commemoration for HM Queen Elizabeth II. The service, at St Andrew’s Church, Aldborough, begins at 10am, and will include Holy Communion. All are welcome to attend.

For details of all our other forthcoming church services in the parish, please see the services page.

Gracious God, we give thanks
for the life of your servant Queen Elizabeth,
for her faith and her dedication to duty.
Bless our nation as we mourn her death
and may her example continue to inspire us;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
